Research evidence for positive effects of acupuncture Acupuncture has been in existence for at least 2,500 years and much has been recorded in China over this time. Over the last 10 years or so, in particular, people have begun to translate some of the ancient texts and writings. More recently, we have translations of some of the research carried out in China. However, so much has been recorded that it will take very many years for it all to be translated.

There have also been many new clinical trials, mainly on acupuncture, but also on moxibustion and electro-acupuncture. It is impossible to include all the papers but I have included a small selection of research on common conditions such as back pain, osteoarthritis, and headaches. Over time, I will add more information to include the latest research and clinical trials.
